Hello

My name is Zsófia Hevér.

I am a Hungarian visual artist based in Budapest.

For over twenty years, I have worked as both a dance teacher and photographer. Movement was my first artistic language. Through contemporary dance and running my own studio in Budapest, I learned to think in rhythm, tension, balance and spatial composition.

Photography entered my life alongside dance — at first as documentation, later as a more personal exploration. After the birth of my son, I felt a strong need to move beyond capturing moments and begin shaping them. I started searching for a visual language that felt entirely my own.

Discovering cyanotype was a turning point. The process — working with light, time and natural elements — allowed me to create delicate botanical prints that connect interior spaces with nature. Gardens, especially those of our family, became an ongoing source of inspiration.

Over time, my practice expanded further into the tactile. I began creating layered wall pieces from recycled textiles and wool felt. These works often depict recognizable objects, subtly distorted and rebalanced — somewhere between figuration and abstraction.

Material choice is essential in my work. I use recycled felt made from discarded garments as well as responsibly sourced wool felt, giving existing materials a renewed presence.

Across cyanotypes and textile reliefs alike, my work reflects a dialogue between movement and stillness, surface and depth, fragility and structure.
